What is OPZuid?

OPZuid is the regional subsidy programme for innovation in Limburg, North Brabant and Zeeland, funded by ERDF and the three southern provinces. Up to €2 million per project, up to 50% of total project costs. The 2026 opening is not yet officially confirmed at time of writing.

Who is OPZuid for?

OPZuid is intended for broad consortia in Southern Netherlands: companies (mainly SMEs), knowledge institutions, municipalities, water boards and citizen cooperatives. Minimum two collaboration partners required.

  • Distribution: 35% ERDF + 15% provincial co-funding

  • Project accelerates at least one of the five transitions
  • Technological innovation at TRL 6 to 8
  • Project demonstrably benefits SMEs

Important note 2026

The 2026 opening of OPZuid is not yet officially confirmed. The 2025 cycle had two openings (spring and autumn). A similar cycle for 2026 is likely but not yet confirmed.

How to apply for OPZuid

Applications go through the central OPZuid desk of Zeeland province. OPZuid works with a tender procedure.

Combining OPZuid with other subsidies

OPZuid is an EU fund, so stacking with other EU subsidies on the same costs is not allowed. Combining with WBSO, MIT R&D or DEI+ is possible.
