What is Flex-e?

Flex-e (Flexible Electricity) is the subsidy scheme for companies and organisations that want to manage the overloaded electricity grid more intelligently. Three variants: Flexibility Scan (up to €10,000), Feasibility Study (up to €125,000) and investment subsidy for flexibility measures (up to €300,000).

Who is Flex-e 2026 for?

Flex-e is intended for SMEs, large companies, associations, non-profits, governments and research institutions facing a full or overloaded electricity grid.

The 3 Flex-e variants in 2026

Flex-e Flexibility Scan

  • Maximum amount: €10,000
  • Subsidy rate: 50%
  • Goal: quick scan by an independent advisor

Flex-e Feasibility Study

  • Subsidy: €10,000 to €125,000 per project
  • Subsidy rate: up to 50%
  • Goal: technical and financial feasibility research

Flex-e Flexibility Measures

  • Subsidy: €25,000 to €300,000 per project
  • Subsidy rate: up to 50%
  • Goal: actual implementation of batteries, smart energy management systems, demand response or microgrids

What counts as a flexibility measure?

  • Energy storage (batteries, thermal storage)
  • Smart control of equipment and processes
  • Demand response and peak shaving
  • Self-generation linked to flexibility
  • Microgrids or local energy hubs
  • Software and monitoring for energy management

Application period 2026

For all three Flex-e variants: opening 6 May 2026, closing 15 October 2026 or as soon as budget runs out. Flex-e works first-come-first-served.
