What is the DEI+?
The DEI+ is a subsidy for Dutch companies developing and testing innovative energy and climate technologies in a production environment. The grant supports businesses that are serious about reducing CO2 emissions while lowering operational energy costs.
DEI+ targets three main sectors: industrial companies, electricity sector organizations, and built environment businesses including construction and real estate. The program funds practical innovation through pilot projects, demonstration projects, and test infrastructure that prove new technologies work at scale.
Eligible technologies span renewable energy systems, CO2 capture solutions, hydrogen infrastructure, and flexible energy networks. Whether you're testing a new technique at smaller scale through a pilot project or proving commercial viability through a larger demonstration project, DEI+ provides the financial backing to move forward.
Who Can Apply?
DEI+ welcomes applications from private companies of all sizes operating in the Netherlands. This includes industrial enterprises, electricity sector businesses, construction companies, and energy technology startups.
Eligibility Criteria
- Company based in the Netherlands or Dutch Caribbean territories
- Financially stable organization
- Project focuses on CO2 reduction and sustainability
- No fossil fuel-based technologies
- Project must start within 6 months of approval
- Cannot begin project before submitting application
For demonstration projects, there's an important cost limitation: expenses to third parties cannot exceed 50% of investment costs minus reference costs. While you can hire external expertise, simply outsourcing the work doesn't qualify as executing the project at your own expense and risk.
